Ai Wei Wei presents his first series of glass works at the Basilica of San Giorgio Maggiore in Venice

In La Commedia Umana – Memento Mori, the artist also exhibits Lego creations and iconic pieces

The exhibition is on display until November 27 of this year. La Commedia Umana – Memento Mori, individual with the first glass series by Ai Weiwei, created in partnership with Murano Berengo Studio and Fondazione Berengo. In addition to these works, new Lego works and some of the artist's iconic pieces will also be on display. The venue is the Basilica of San Giorgio Maggiore, located on the Island of San Giorgio Maggiore, Venice, and is open every day except Tuesdays. 

With the new works, in contrast to the architecture of the monastery built between 1566 and 1610, Ai Weiwei develops a new language through the process of working with glass, referring to the mortality and legacy of the artist, and maximizing the possibilities within working with glass. blown, in addition to showing the artisanal Murano process. The highlight is an installation on the monumental chandelier inside the basilica.

The Basilica of San Giorgio Maggiore is located on the small island of the same name, located opposite Piazza San Marco. To access it, just take a vaporetto (public collective boat that works like a metropolitan bus) at one of the stations in front of the famous square.
