Rodrigo Bivar: It's One

Millan Gallery, Sao Paulo

The Gallery Millan presents the exhibition “É Uma”, by Rodrigo Bivar. Comprising seven new, large-scale paintings, all with the same measurements, the exhibition is the artist's first at Millan since 2015, and marks a new chapter in his investigation into painting. Initially figurative and close to photographic images, over the years Bivar's work has permeated a field more identified with abstract painting, with interesting geometric divisions and color associations.

The paintings follow a composition, are divided in half by contrasting colors and considerably random, more contemporary. “The clash or juxtaposition between the two areas of color will produce somewhat organic fragments, which sometimes splash upwards, sometimes downwards”, says art critic Rodrigo Naves in the text that accompanies the exhibition.
