Entitled Night of Hope in Cidade Maçarico, the new solo sandra belt will be inaugurated tomorrow, August 6th, at Casa Triângulo. Curated by Josué Mattos, the show celebrates the thirty years of partnership between the gallery and the artist and displays her new series of recent works that give the exhibition its name. This series has as its guiding principle the act of “hoping” as Paulo Freire thought when he defined this new verb as “joining with others to do otherwise”, an essential proposal to the works presented by Cinto.
The canvases presented, taken by the intense blue of the night sky and illuminated only by the white of the stars, represent not only this “light” of hope, but also the connection between beings and the need for this connection so that any future is possible. Just as the stars unite in the heavens in constellations, the union between people, between projects, between hopes is essential.
Painter, sculptor and draftsman, born in the late 1960s, Sandra Cinto has been building a solid body of work since the early 1990s, marked by different representations of the sky and clouds. His works evoke a kind of “common memory” for everyone, they are works that have the power to awaken sensations and memories since everyone must have kept some memory of heaven. For those who want to get to know the artist's work better, this series presents itself as a synthesis and this show is the perfect occasion.
