Tate Modern

A Tate Modern de Londres é um museu britânico de arte moderna e faz parte, juntamente com a Tate Britain, a Tate Liverpool, a Tate St. Ives e a Tate Online, do grupo atualmente conhecido simplesmente como Tate.

O museu foi instalado na antiga central elétrica de Bankside, no distrito de Southwark, às margens do Tâmisa. A usina, projetada pelo arquiteto Sir Giles Gilbert Scott e construída em duas fases, entre 1947 e 1963, foi desativada em 1981 e o edifício foi reconvertido pelos arquitetos suíços Herzog e de Meuron.

London’s Tate Modern is a British museum of modern art and is part, together with Tate Britain, Tate Liverpool, Tate St. Ives and Tate Online, of the group currently known simply as Tate.

The museum was installed in the old Bankside power plant, in the Southwark district, on the banks of the Thames. The plant, designed by architect Sir Giles Gilbert Scott and built in two phases, between 1947 and 1963, was decommissioned in 1981 and the building was converted by the Swiss architects Herzog and de Meuron.
