Frieze NY now accepts galleries without physical space

Estimated reading time: < 1 minute

Frieze New York changed the criteria for selecting galleries in its main section: while previously it was necessary for exhibitors to be for-profit companies that represented an international program and held at least four exhibitions a year in their spaces, now “exceptions may be considered”. This little sentence allowed, in the 2018 edition, two dealers without their own exhibition spaces to show at the event (Nicole Klagsbrun and Tif Sigfrid) and may point to a new configuration of the New York market, where many young galleries have closed their doors in the last two years due, among others, to the high cost of real estate.
