“Queermuseum in Parque Lage” campaign launched

Estimated reading time: < 1 minute

Parque Lage launched a crowdfunding campaign to enable, in its exhibition space, the realization of the collective “Queermuseu”. Curated by Gaudêncio Fidelis, the show originally shown at Santander Cultural (Porto Alegre) was censored and closed just 26 days after its opening, after a smear campaign on social networks. Shortly afterwards, Marcelo Crivella, mayor of Rio, stated without popular consultation that the city did not want to host the exhibition. Now Parque Lage appeals to the artistic community and the general public to reopen the “Queermuseum”, in “a response against authoritarianism and censorship”. Just over 21,000 reais of the 690,000 needed were raised. The campaign ends on March 29th.
