The New Museum in New York yesterday announced plans to construct a second building for the museum, designed by OMA, architects Shohei Shigematsu and Rem Koolhaas, in collaboration with Cooper Robertson. This will be OMA's first public project in the city. The new space will respect the characteristics and integrity of the building designed by the famous Japanese office SANAA, occupying the adjacent land with 7 floors and more than 5 thousand square meters, doubling the institution's exhibition space.
