Lucia Tallova: Far from Everything

Karla Osorio Gallery, Brasilia

Galeria Karla Osorio presents a solo show by Slovakian artist Lucia Tallova. From the last week of April until mid-June, the artist is in artistic residency at the gallery's headquarters in Brasília.

In an intense process of research and studies, Tallova has explored the federal capital and its surroundings, appropriating its history, past and present, in search of material for the production of new works to be created, mostly in Brazil, where she comes from. for the first time. During her stay, the artist received curatorial accompaniment from Professor Marco Antonio Vieira (Doctor from UnB in History of the Arts) and works in a studio offered by the gallery itself.

The themes and motifs of the artist's research assume the proscenium of her poetic fabulation of materials collected locally and which she appropriates to fill in the gaps left, for example, by the photographs that are extracted from old publications such as the magazine O Cruzeiro, whose circulation coincides with the founding period of the city of Brasilia, or old encyclopedias in which the artist looks for symptoms of a history of objectification and debasement of women.
