SP-Foto 2019

SP-Foto, Sao Paulo

SP-Foto – São Paulo Photography Fair – reaches its 13th edition as the most important event dedicated to photographic work in Brazil. Held annually in August, the month of Photography, the Fair consolidates itself as a platform for cultural and artistic exchange between curators, collectors, artists, renowned galleries and admirers of this segment of the arts. Over five days, at Shopping JK Iguatemi, modern and contemporary photography occupies a central position in debates, releases and exhibitions that expand throughout the city of São Paulo.

The fair will receive the main galleries, publishers and museums that promote photography in the country. Among the 43 exhibitors, Fortes D'Aloia & Gabriel, Mendes Wood DM, Vermelho, Mario Cohen, Silvia Cintra + Box 4, Luciana Caravello, Luciana Brito Galeria, as well as houses specializing in vintage photography such as Fólio, Utopia and MaPa. This year, the Almeida and Dale + Leme/AD (São Paulo), Galería Zielinsky (Barcelona) and LAMB Arts (London, São Paulo) galleries debut.

From Maureen Bisilliat to Bárbara Wagner, activities such as the Circuito Ateliês Abertos, Meet the Artists and the unprecedented partnership with Writedeira, a space for literary events, expand the public's contact with rising and renowned names in national photography. In addition, the 13th SP-Foto intensifies the international interest in Brazilian photography by inviting seven foreign specialists linked to renowned institutions of contemporary art and photography. Curators Margot Norton (New Museum, USA), Barbara Tannenbaum (Cleveland Museum, USA) and Julieta González (Jumex, Mexico) swell burning reflections on the world of photography in this edition's Talks.
