Guilherme Teixeira is an artist and educator graduated from FAAP and master from ECA-USP. His research focuses on the possibilities of approximation and crossing between art and pedagogy, between games, games and political action. The works produced by Teixeira, in general, demand the collaboration of the public, who are invited to co-create and make choices, individually and collectively.

Working in partnership with other artists or alone, Teixeira always starts from a desire to engage the spectator, who sometimes engages his body, sometimes his intellect, sometimes both, in open and ambitious proposals. In works such as “Exercício de Meditação #1”, created in collaboration with Igor Vidor, the public had slingshots and modeling clay at hand, which could be used in a kind of target shooting outlined on the wall of the exhibition room: the silhouettes of the bodies of the artists themselves, in different positions suggesting movement. Mounted in Rio de Janeiro, at the Hélio Oiticia Art Center, the installation provoked visitors to attack the figures of the artists with sticky colored balls, in a mixture of emulation of urban violence and playful and childish games.

Other actions, however, depend on the cooperation of spectators, who become co-authors. The performative element of Teixeira's proposals becomes undeniable in projects such as “Festa das Lanternas” – in a dark place, filled with scenographic smoke, people are given lanterns with different color filters. Theatrical games are proposed by the artist, stimulating the participants' bodies and relationships, who need to trust each other and work together to meet the demands of the mediator who leads them. Among his most recent works are open-air installations that evoke playgrounds and play spaces, always exalting the playful nature inherent in art.
