Galeria Quadra, active since 2017 in Leblon, Rio de Janeiro, has already opened a space in Vila Buarque, in São Paulo, and now expands its extensions to the neighborhood of Santa Cecilia.
The old shed that houses the second unit in São Paulo was designed by the AR office, by architects Marina Acayaba and Juan Rosenberg, and has two exhibition spaces. For the grand opening on Saturday, the 13th, the event features the opening of two exhibitions: the collective undo, undo and Diambe's single Jardim Novas Mucosas.
The first is curated by Guilherme Teixeira and brings a selection of young artists both from the Rio de Janeiro gallery and invited guests, aiming to promote contemporary production. The link that unites them all is their interest in the subject and their relationship with the public. Among the names are: Ana Almeida, Ana Clara Tito, Arorá, Carla Santana, Manu Costalima, Marcelo Pacheco, Marina Woisky, Tati Chalhoub and Thomaz Rosa.
The Diambe exhibition is curated by Catarina Duncan and presents an artiste's research that starts from roots and tubers and results in the creation of mysterious creatures in the form of tempera or oil paintings and bronze sculptures. In addition, Diambe brings an unpublished video that gave the title to the exhibition and displays a mixture of images between the creation process of the other works, personal archives and collective choreographies filmed in Rio de Janeiro.
